The Waiting Game

2012 Election Voting Waiting Times (According to Twitters users) from Luis Daniel on Vimeo.

This little interactive game called "The Waiting Game", is a representation of actual waiting times people across the US experienced on election day, 2012. On election day, Amelia, Alessandra, Deqing, and I, recorded tweets for a couple of hours that contained the words 'waited', 'to', and 'vote' and grouped them by state. We then averaged those wait times and made this little graphic that shows a very eager George Washington .gif moving along at actual speed. In the video, we show Idaho, where we only recovered one tweet from a person who waited "0 minutes to vote", and GW taking one minute to reach his destination (we rounded up to the nearest full minute). Keep watching for the climactic finish!
